Initial customer discussions regarding potential projects are carried out by Lonza Custom Manufacturing’s Sales & Business Development staff. These specialists are trained to provide information about Lonza’s services and capabilities and to obtain an overview of the customer’s requirements in order to find the best fit between the customer’s needs and Lonza’s capabilities.
Early on in this process, a Project Manager is assigned to assist the negotiation from a technical aspect via liaison with the necessary specialists at Lonza, to eventually provide an agreement specifically tailored to the customer’s requirements.
Once an agreement is in place, a multidisciplinary project team is formed under the direction of the Project Manager. This project team consists of members representing the relevant functions throughout the organization – including Sales, R&D, Manufacturing, QA/QC, Procurement, Regulatory and any other discipline deemed necessary to ensure successful delivery of the project’s objectives.
The Project manager becomes the customer’s key point of contact at Lonza, keeping the customer informed as to the progress of the project from initiation to completion. Their primary objective is to ensure delivery of the project, on time, on budget and to the quality standards expected by the customer. |
