Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can you eliminate serum from our medium?

We will attempt to do this, testing a panel of proprietary basal media designed specifically for use without serum. We will then test a panel of recombinant growth factors.

2. What about cryopreservation of our cells?

We have several formulations of cryopreservation media that are free of all animal proteins.

3. Can you source GMP/USP chemicals and reagents?

Yes, we have identified sources and qualified all normal media components.

4. Are cells expanded in T-flasks?

T-flasks are one option, but roller bottles, cell factories, and spinners are examples of other options.

5. What seeding density will you use for my cells?

All cell types are different, and we will work out the optimal seeding density, and many other culture parameters, for your cells.

6. Can you optimize the cell isolation procedure as well?

Yes, we have extensive experience with many cell and tissue types, and many isolation procedures. We also have GMP-grade reagents such as digestive enzymes for tissue isolation and cell passaging.

7. How many cells can you produce?

We will work out a production process that best fits your objectives and keeps costs down. This will usually involve master and working cell banks.

8. How much does a bioassay cost?

Assay pricing is determined on a case-by-case basis and depends on the cell type, number of compounds tested and number of compound concentrations tested, and number of replicates per compound concentration.

9. How many compounds can you test at once in a bioassay?

This will vary, depending upon the complexity of the assay.

10. How many concentrations of each compound do you test?

The number of compound concentrations, as well as the concentration range, is determined on a case-by-case basis in consultation with you, the customer.

11. When will you start my bioassay?

We give ourselves fifteen calendar days to start a bioassay. However, most bioassays are initiated within a week of obtaining a signed contract, purchase order, and your compounds.

12. Do you use controls in your bioassays?

Yes, we always use positive and negative controls in our bioassays to measure bioassay performance. We will supply the controls and/or you may supply additional controls that you have experience with.

13. When will I receive my bioassay results?

We will send bioassay results to you within ten days after completing the assay. We analyze and review the results as soon as possible after the assay is complete.

14. What happens to my compounds when you are finished with the bioassay?

Leftover compounds are discarded when the project is complete. If you wish to have leftover compounds returned to you, we will ship them back to you at your cost.
